Global Design Project 124 | CASE the Designer

Hello and welcome!  I am participating in another Global Design Project challenge!  This week is a “case the designer,” which means that you CASE (Copy and Selectively Edit) a card.  You can take inspiration from any part of a card-be it the layout, colors, theme, or anything else!  This week’s card is designed by the talented Louise Sharp:

I chose to keep the card size (5×5 square card), the flower motif, and add a bow.   I used part of a stamp from the Flying Home stamp set to create a circle of flowers.  Then, I used Watercolor Pencils to color in those pretty blooms.  White Baker’s Twine, some leaves from the Leaf Punch, and an embossed background finished it off.

Some tips:

-To create the flower circle, I masked off the bird and part of the bird house with washi tape, inked in Memento ink, and did it on paper before it was die cut.  You won’t get a perfect circle with this, but I found that you need to place the second image quite close to the first to get it close enough to have everything fit into a large circle die.  Make sure you WAIT a few seconds before inking and stamping again…it takes just a smidge more time for Memento to dry.  Oh, and make sure you take off your washi tape before you stamp.  After you stamped the two images, die cut with one of the biggest circles from the Layering Framelits.

-I used Thick Whisper White with the embossing folder.  For some reason, regular Whisper White just doesn’t hold up very well and tears easily.

-I did not use any water with the watercolor pencils. To smudge, I just moistened my finger and ran it over the image to blur it a bit.  Yeah, it takes it out of the lines, but I didn’t want to smear everything with a lot of water!

The Flying Home stamp set is perfect if you like to color.  Bigger images and lots of white room make it perfect for you to use Watercolor Pencils or Stampin’ Blends!   If you’d like to purchase the set, please see my store HERE!  I’d love to become your demonstrator!
