You are here Home / 12 Days of Christmas celebration
The 12 Days of Christmas song is one of my favorites to sing during the holiday season! I have vivid memories of singing this during an elementary school pageant, complete with drawings being shown in the background (of course, we drew those too!). I don’t remember which day I drew, but I can remember a fellow classmates, Zack, drawing the 10 lords a leaping. He sure was talented.
Anyway, this year I am starting a new tradition for my boys! It was inspired by a friend who sells books-a 12 days of books! Each day, the kids will take down the day’s box, open it and read (well, I’ll read it!) the title of the book they’ll be getting. I’m still working on getting all the books, but they range from classics (Velveteen Rabbit) to fun leveled books that Aiden can read to his brother. I hope they enjoy this new tradition.
These are the boxes that I made. I have a picture for you that shows the measurements as well. They are easy to make, but I do recommend putting some tape or glue on the sides to hold them together a bit better while you do the hole punch. It also makes for a better triangle shape to tape them a little.
Each box is covered with Merry Music paper and decorated with items from the Large Numbers and Pretty Pines dies. I did the boxes in Real Red, Old Olive, Basic Black and Whisper White. Once the box is put together, hole punch the top and thread some baker’s twine in it. I hung them between 2 wooden Christmas trees that I picked up at a local store. I covered those in Merry Music paper as well. Not a great picture, but here’s the set up on my mantel:
To make, follow the template below:
I hope the directions are easy to follow. The triangle box can be made bigger or smaller depending on your need. This size is great to put a few chocolate kisses in, or a folded up piece of paper containing scripture verses or anything else you want to write!
The Merry Music paper is heading toward retirement (on January 2, you won’t be able to order it anymore!) so if you like the paper, stock up! Stampin’ Up! is offering another FREE SHIPPING DAY on Monday, December 11! Save some money on shipping and SHOP NOW! Also, my Occasions catalogs will be here tomorrow, so if you want one, please use the Request a Catalog link. I’ll get them out by the end of the week.
Have an inky day!
