Anywho, I came up with this idea one night as I was laying in bed, trying to fall asleep.  I keep a journal by my bed to draw (sort of, since I can’t draw worth beans) ideas that come to me, and started to sketch a card for father’s day.  I came up with this Dad license plate card, which is really easy to make.

Stampin' Up fathers day. Fathers day card. License plate card. dad card. Large Letters. Male birthday. Dad birthday card

I used Silver Foil (5 x 1/2″ by 4 x 1/4″) as the outside of the plate.  Turn the cardstock over and mark 1/2″ all the way around the inside; cut this out so you have the opening in the middle.  Now you have the “rim” of the plate!  I used Dapper Denim cardstock and my Large Letters and Numbers dies for the DAD 1-but you could stamp these too, if you don’t have the dies.  The wavy part was inspired by our actual Michigan License plate!   I stamped “to a classic” from the Guy Greetings stamp set.  I thought that fit a license plate card well 🙂

The “Michigan” and heart were stamped in Dapper Denim with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.  This is the first time I’ve used it (though I’ve had it for many months!) and I thought it turned out neat.  You do have to fussy cut the letters out though.  I gave the plate the DOB instead of the EXP date (after all, we don’t want him to expire!) and used his month and year of birth.  I punched out 4 small Basic Black circles for the “screws” and attached everything to a base of Whisper White!

This could be a father’s day or birthday card!

Here is the supply list that I used; to order, just click on the picture and you’ll be taken directly to the product.  Remember to use host code KN2VEKW7 at checkout to receive your June Customer Appreciation card and ribbon samples!
