Jar of Love Mother’s Day card!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner!  Don’t fret if you haven’t made a card for the special mom in your life!  Here’s are the cards that I am sending out to the moms in mine:

Stampin Up Jar of Love. Stampin up mothers day. Mother's day cards. Stampin Up Everyday jars. Stampin Up Berry Burst. Stampin Up Powder Pink

To make these:

  1.  Start out with a blank piece of Whisper White cardstock and make your own pretty paper!  I used the new Berry Burst, Lemon Lime Twist, and Powder Pink inks along with the Jar of Love stamp set.  Just ink up and stamp randomly on the cardstock to create your own design.
  2. Use the Large Letter Framelits dies to cut out a couple of m and os.  Set those aside.
  3. Cut out a piece of pink cardstock (I used Berry Burst and Powder Pink, but you could use Blushing Bride and Rose Red until you get the new colors!) 2 x 1/2″ by 4 x 1/2″.  Glue down the letters.
  4. Cut out a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2 x 3/4″ by 4 x 3/4″.  Use Stampin’ Dimensionals to affix the pink cardstock to the white piece.
  5. Stamp a bunch of the flowers and stems from the Jar of Love stamp set.  I used the same colors as I did inking up my own pretty paper for the words.  Use the Everyday Jars framelits dies to cut those out.
  6. Attach the flowers and stems to the word.  I found that trimming the stems made it much easier to tuck between the layers.
  7. Finish by mounting on a piece of 4″ by 5 x 1/4″ pretty paper from the Color Theory paper pack, due out June 1!

I love the Large Letters Framelits!  Instead of the word “mom” here, you could totally use “love” or “hope” or “wish” to further the use of this technique.  Creating your own pretty paper is something everyone should do, since its an easy way to add your own twist on a card.  This would be a perfect way to introduce a young person to stamping as well, or really anyone who may not have a whole lot of stamping supplies.
