You are here Home / Easy Dragonfly Dreams note cards
One of my goals for the year is to have a ready made stack of cards on hand to send out for any occasion! These easy Dragonfly Dreams note cards are simple, quick, and can be tailored to your color preference. They are perfect for pretty much any need-weddings, sympathy, thank you, thinking of you etc. I love note card sizes because there is lots less room to fill, so you can make quite a few in no time! This is my first play with this stamp and die set, and I am going to be working with it a lot! I will be trying out some new techniques as well.
Here’s how to make this card set:
Begin by sponging and brayering (is that a word?) Real Red and Tangerine Tango onto some Whisper White cardstock. I had some 5 x 1/4″ by 8 x 1/2″ pieces that for some reason got scored on the wrong spot so I pulled those out to use! You may not be able to tell (sorry, taking pictures at night in Michigan means anything after 4pm is dark and gloomy), but I sponged Tangerine Tango on first using sponge daubers, then brayered Real Red onto one side, and did the opposite on the other side. You can tell in person, I swear!
You can get 2 diecuts out of each side by using the non-detailed dragonfly die-the one that is more open. Cut them tail to tail. Then, using the same ink colors, ink up the dot stamp from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and stamp off on the Whisper White note card fronts. This is a one layer card, meaning we are not “building up” the layers of cardstock. Simple and easy!
I used the Gold Metallic Thread under the dragonfly cutouts. The simpliest way I’ve found to use the thread, since it gets tangled easily, is to wrap it around all of my fingers 4 times, then pinch the middle and set it down on top of my adhesive on the paper. You can then adjust the loops and tuck in the end pieces if they bother you. Stamp a sentiment in the same ink as the dots. I used 2 from the Dragonfly Dreams set, one from Thoughts and Prayers, and one from Window Shopping.
Don’t forget to dress up the envelopes! The little flower from the Window Shopping set is fun and simple enough to put on the front of an envelope! I find myself out of sympathy and get well cards most of the time, probably because its more fun to do the birthday and thank you cards. But…we need them, and I’d rather have a card all ready to go than to scramble to do one at the last minute! I hope I don’t need any sympathy cards this year, but I will be prepared if I do!
Close up of the gold thread: (I did this one a bit different and just pinched the end instead of the middle)
I hope these inspire you to make a few stockpile cards of your own! Note cards are perfect for doing a couple of cards at once, because they look good as just simple, one-layer cards. No muss, no fuss!
