Winter Wonderland Emboss Resist card

Have you ever tried the Emboss Resist technique?  Its very easy, and it makes your cards look like you did a ton of work (but really, you didn’t!) This Winter Wonderland card was created for a swap group! I wanted to do a little emboss resist with these snowflakes from the Stitched with Cheer stamp set. I love how this turned out! Its sparkly and glimmer-y (is that a word? It should be!) and I love the blue and sparkle color scheme.

Here’s what you’ll need to make it (I did several cards at once, so I’m just going to put what I did):

For the embossed part:
A sheet of Shimmery White Cardstock
Heat gun and versamark ink
White Embossing Powder
Embossing buddy
Marina Mist ink
Stitched with Cheer Stamp Set
Christmas Pines Stamp Set
Aqua Painter

The “how-to”:
Wipe your Shimmery White Cardstock over with the Embossing Buddy to remove finger oil and dirt (don’t skip this step, it makes a big difference!) Using Versamark, stamp the snowflake from the Stitched with Cheer stamp set in random spots on the Shimmery White Cardstock. Cover snowflakes with the White Emboss powder, shake off excess. Heat each snowflake with the heat gun for a minute or so until the powder sets. It should look faintly matte when it sets.
Take your Marina Mist ink and your Aqua Painter and go over the whole paper, concentrating on the snowflakes. I went over the snowflakes at least 2 times with some of the ink; they pop out better when they have more ink on them. Randomly place the scattered snowflake stamp from the Christmas Pines stamp set in Marina Mist all over the paper. You can also stamp some of the “star” line stamp from the Stitched with Cheer set, also in Marina Mist.  This is the resist part-the embossed snowflakes “resist” the coloring, so you can paint over them without smearing.
After the sheet dries completely, cut in strips 1 x 1/2″ wide by 5 x 1/4″ long.

For the card part:
Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper
Marina Mist Cardstock
Softly Falling Textured Embossing Folder
The “Joy” Framelit from the Wonderful Wreathe Framelits Dies set
Whisper White Cardstock

Glimmer paper-1″ by 5 x 1/4″ (x2 for each card)
Marina Mist paper-strips of 1″ by 5 x 1/4″ (x2 for each card)-I found it easier to run a big piece of the Marina Mist through the Big Shot and Softly Falling folder first, then cut into strips)
Whisper White-card base of 5 x 1/2″ by 8 x 1/4″, scored at 4 x 1/4″
card layer 4″ by 5 x 1/4″ (you’ll build your card on this)

Start by adhering the strip of embossed snowflakes onto the middle of your Whisper White layer. Then, using craft tape, adhere the Dazzling Diamond strips just at the edge of the embossed snowflakes. You’re basically building onto each layer. Add your embossed Marina Mist strips on top of the Dazzling Diamonds. I found tape runners didn’t really give a firm hold on the glimmer paper, so I used craft tape for the Marina Mist pieces as well.

You’ll die cut the “Joy” out of the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper as well, and use your fine tip glue pen to glue the very ends of the word to the card. Adhere the whole piece to the top of your card base of Whisper White.

Stampin' Up! Dazzling Diamonds. Stampin' Up! emboss resist technique

This really makes me think of winter, and snow, and ice…even though I’m so not ready for any of that.

Hope you enjoyed the card!  I LOVE the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper, and its always a hit around Christmas.  It makes such pretty snowflakes too!

Here is the supply list should you need anything to make this beautiful card!
