Tuesday Tips! Got scrap?

I admit…I hoard paper scraps.  There’s something about my pretty papers that forbids me to throw them out.  As I have tons and tons of little scraps, I made it my mission yesterday to come up with some ideas to use some of it up.  If you have a bunch of scraps that you don’t know what to do with, try these ideas!

I used the Blooms and Bliss paper with Island Indigo, Whisper White and Mint Macaron cardstock.

Stampin' Up! Blooms and Bliss DSP. Stampin' Up! One Big Meaning

Whisper White base (5 x 1/2″ by 8 x 1/2″, score at 4 x 1/4″)
Island Indigo layer (5 x 1/4″ by 4″)
Whisper White layer (5″ by 3 x 3/4″)
Whisper White layer for scrap pieces (2″ by 3 x 3/4″)
Strips of pretty paper 1/4″ wide and 4 x 1/2″ long
Starting with the strips of 1/4″ paper and the smallest piece of Whisper White-add some adhesive over the whole Whisper White piece and begin laying down your 1/4″ pieces on a slant.  I started in the middle and worked my way to the sides, trimming as needed.  I ended up being able to use the trimmed pieces towards the end.  After trimming around the edges, glue this piece onto the Whisper White layer, then glue that to the Island Indigo layer.  Add that to the card base, and adhere a strip of Mint Macaron Cardstock (1/2″ by 3 x 3/4″) to the top of your scrap piece, and stamp a sentiment above it.  I used the Thank you from the One Big Meaning stamp set.

Stampin' Up! Blooms and Bliss DSP. Stampin' Up! Butterfly Basics

Whisper White base (5 x 1/2″ by 8 x 1/2″, score at 4 x 1/4″)
Island Indigo layer (5 x 1/4″ by 4″)
Whisper White layer (5″ by 3 x 3/4″)
1 inch squares of pretty paper
Draw a light line at 1 x 3/4″ horizontally on the Whisper White layer.  You’ll use this to line up the squares.  The “bottom” squares have the tip of the square against the line.  The “top” squares have the 2 side points on the line.  Trim off any paper hanging off the side.  I popped out the middle square with dimensionals.  Stamp the Happy Birthday and rhombus strip from the Butterfly Basics stamp set.  I used Mint Macaron and Island Indigo inks.

Stampin' Up! Blooms and Bliss DSP. Stampin' Up! Copper Embossing Powder. Stampin' Up! Swirly Bird

I used the new Copper Embossing Powder to this card-it looks so much prettier in person!  The Swirly Bird stamp set is perfect for “manly” type cards-I just added a few smaller swirls in Island Indigo, some “splotches” in Mint Macaron, and a piece of the Blooms and Bliss paper under neath the sentiment circle.  If you don’t have a 2 inch circle punch yet, go get one!  Its one of my most used punches and will be featured in some of our 12 Weeks of Christmas projects!
