Flourishing Phrases color swap

A nice thing about being on Facebook (or a part of any online community, really) is the opportunity to partake in things that you might not get to in real life.  Take swapping cards, for instance.  Unless you have a great cardmaking community in your area, you probably aren’t familiar with card swapping.  I know plenty of people in my hometown, but not a one of them makes cards (not yet, anyway!).  So it was nice to be added to a group on Facebook for this purpose, and even better when it compromises people that are part of the same “team” that I belong to, in terms of my upline and such.

So each month the organizer picks a theme for our swaps.  It could be a holiday theme, type of card, or a color challenge.  I like doing swaps because it gives me fresh ideas that I can CASE (copy and share everything) or tweak to suit my needs!

August’s challenge was a color challenge, with Watermelon Wonder, Flirty Flamingo, Pear Pizzazz, and Daffodil Delight.  Such a pretty combo!  I wanted to play with the Flourishing Phrases bundle, and this color combo screamed Flourish Thinlits!! Here’s what I came up with:

Stampin' Up! Flourishing Phrases bundle. Flourish Thinlits dies

I used Pear Pizzazz for the large flourish image, Watermelon Wonder for the flowers, Daffodil Delight for the circle-y looking diecut, and Flirty Flamingo for the card layer and sentiment. Adding some pearl embellishments gives it a little touch of class!

So I sent 18 of these out, and received 18 cards back.  One lesson-if you send pearls in the mail, either get them hand stamped (extra postage) or put a piece of cardstock on the front to protect it.  Some of mine ended up pretty mangled in the mail.  Whoops.

This was a pretty easy card to do, and the Flourishing Phrases bundle leads the way as my favorite from the Annual Catalog!
